Film Editing

Experiences

A lot of my editing experience has come from using Adobe Premiere Pro and I'm always consistent with every detail. While I was in the film club during my high school years, I was one of two editors. I would end up handling the entire post-production of a lot of their works, both good films & disasters. You can read more about it below & view the resulting work.

London Calling (2024)

This was the first project I would have the opportunity to edit on. The director went on a trip to the UK and came back with really shaky footage. I had some fun with the color grading and came out with a decent experimental video.

Freedom (2024)

This was one of the first short films I would edit. It would be the first time I would learn how to properly piece together interview footage to tell a story. My mentor would give me many notes and helped me understand more about the art form of documentaries. The original 6 minute rough cut would be brought down to it's current 3 minute form with a proper narrative on the plights of freedom and the Castro regime.

WHITE NOISE (2024)

This was a really weird one. For a competition, we had 2 weeks to shoot a 1 minute scene with the prompt: "Technology can be an evil thing."

Me and Nick, who I've worked with before, had a plan but the remainder of our crew had to cancel last minute so it was just us two, an RV, and no idea how to make this work (but we did it anyways!).

It was my first time messing around with camerawork and VFX. We had a lot of technical problems from crappy batteries that would die in 20 minutes to accidentally recording our footage in an ancient file format that was only accessible to rip through older editing software.

In The Miso Soup (2025)

Nick went on another trip, this time to Japan. What we knew from London Calling became a big part in making this one work. He originally wanted to do a travel vlog and had nicer shots to work with that concept.

One problem: The footage was all shot in slow motion by complete accident. Because of this, we leaned full into doing more of an experimental short film with cool color grading.

I like this one more than London Calling just because I feel like it has more substance visually. It has better shots, nicer colors, & the camcorder aesthetic really adds more to the experience.

SABOTAGE (2025)

This video had a very simple goal in mind: remake Sabotage by Beastie Boys. This was for a school competition and so we added our own narrative and jokes that would make more sense for our local community. Outside of that, studying the original Sabotage music video and trying to ask ourselves "how would we do that?" ended up for a very fun experience.

It also resulted in a better way of understanding music videos for me and expanding my scope outside of the experimental videos I've previously done with Nick.
